Nature’s Homemade Naked Candy

Once you try nature’s homemade naked candy, you won’t want anything else. It’s all a matter of getting used to something different.

The difference between natures candy and manufactured stuff is that this is the real deal.

And after you eat one or two. Or three or four. You’ll be full and satisfied but not sick or in a sugar coma.

Walking around in a sugar fog is not fun. I’ve decided that at my age and stage, I honor this body for the precious divine body it is and I treat it that way. That includes “treating” it well with treats that are naked, not fake. As a matter of fact, at this amazing age and stage I have decided that fake is not in my vocabulary, whether you are talking about food or relationships or anything. I much prefer the real deal.

These stuffed dates were a big hit at my Ladies Group.  They taste really good frozen and cold.

And then I stuffed the yummy mejool dates.

Using 2 filling options:

Chocolate Nut Crunch

  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao
  • 3 figs (or dates)
  • pinch of sea salt

Vanilla Coconut Creme

  • 1 cup cashews
  • 1/4 c coconut butter (or shredded coconut)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • stevia
  • sprinkled with cinnamon

photo 2

YUM. Once you mix the filling, you simply remove the pit, stuff the date with the filling and close it right back up.

The wrapping part is the best part. Because they really look like candy.  Two of these beauties with a cup of tea are the perfect little satisfying sweet snack.

The beautiful presentation is part of the gift.

Imagine if someone gave you a box of this candy? Perhaps you’ll consider making it for yourSelf or sharing with someone you love.

Episode #12: Being Present

The biggest gift you can give to yourself and others is to be present to every moment. Being present makes every experience exponentially powerful.

What is it Wednesday 6: The Drink Factor

What is it Wednesday is the day we reveal a product and its ingredient list and you guess what this “food product” is. Then I’ll share with you an option for making a healthy version of this product. What “food product” offers these 15 ingredients?

  1. almond base
  2. evaporated cane sugar
  3. pumpkin
  4. natural flavors
  5. sunflower lecithin
  6. guar gum
  7. tricalcium phosphte
  8. annatto extract
  9. sea salt
  10. cinnamon
  11. nutmeg
  12. vitamin E
  13. Vitamin A Palmitate
  14. Vitamin D2
  15. Vitamin B12

What is it Wednesday 6: The Drink Factor

This box is similar to Almond Dream Almond Milk but wait…. we got some glitz going on . Don’t be confused by the pretty box and “limited edition” gold banner. This is a DRINK. It is NOT ALMOND MILK…and to their credit, it is stated on the front, although the letters are small.  Not all the ingredients on this list are “detrimental” to your health.

However, not all the ingredients on this list are “health enhancers” either. So why bother? Natural flavors is one of those things that has no definition or rules, so it’s totally unclear as to what is included under that list.

So why bother?

It’s a tempting, gorgeous, intriguing package, but you can do better for your body.

What is it Wednesday 6: The Drink Factor

So Pumpkin Darling, what are you going to do if you love pumpkin? I have an yummy option for you! TRY THIS NAKED HEALTHY VERSION INSTEAD. Why have 15  not so healthy ingredients when you can have 4 naked goodies that taste just as good and feel even better.  All you need are 4 simple ingredients:

  1. pumpkin puree
  2. almond milk
  3. date (optional: if you prefer sweeter, or you can add a drop of stevia)
  4. 1 tsp cinnamon and/or cinnamon stick

One serving calls for 1 cup almond milk, 1/4 cup pumpkin puree, 1 date and 1 cinnamon stick

What is it Wednesday 6: The Drink Factor

Mix pumpkin and milk. Place in pot with one date and heat till smooth and creamy and warm. Remove date and eat it! YUM… Pour your warm pumpkin drink into a pretty mug, sprinkle with cinnamon and stir with your cinnamon stick.

What is it Wednesday # 4

What comes in this package and pretends to be a baked GOOD is not baked good at all. Looking at it from this perspective (the ingredient side of the box)  gives you the clarity to see that there is actually nothing good about it at all.

What is it Wednesday # 4

REAL? REALLY? One cannot ascertain how much “real” pumpkin is actually in here as there is no way to tell.

What is it Wednesday # 4

The more you know, the less yummy it looks. I invite you to experiment and to think differently. The next time you bite into one of these store bought muffins, allow yourself to fully experience the taste and feel of the “chemicals” you are ingesting. You can also conjure up the image of  lining these ingredients upon your kitchen counter for a baking day with your beloved child.

Okay. I get it. YOU LOVE MUFFINS in the MORNING!   So what is a Muffin Maniac to do?
You can have your muffin and eat it too.

YOU CAN MAKE OUR OWN, in under 5 minutes.

Beautiful homemade muffins does not mean difficult, time consuming or impossible for the average cook – it means “muffins made in your home”.

These Cherry Banana Muffins are so easy. You only need one bowl to mix and a few simple ingredients! And if you’ve got your heart set on pumpkin, substitute 1/2 c pure pumpkin in place of the banana. I’ve made them this way and they were moist and delicious too.

What is Normal?

What is normal?

I have a friend who is always asking me “Is this normal?” Which drives me absolutely nuts. Because I am not a “normal” friend, I am not interested in engaging or expanding this discussion which would always turn into what “someone” was doing “wrong” to her because they were not acting “normal”.

So I ask again, What is normal?

I have my daughter who says “Mama, “normal is a setting on a washing machine”. And my 3 kids, who defy every aspect of what would be considered “normal”, from the way they look, to what they do, to what they decide for their lives. They inspire me to step out of normal and stay in REAL To stay in what is “real” for me.

What is Normal?

What do you think of  “normal”? Are you trying really hard to be “normal”?  To fit in? To be liked?

If you don’t feel “normal”, what exactly are your parameters for measuring your normalcy?

Come on and admit it, how many times have you asked, “Is THIS normal?” or judged, “That’s NOT normal!” or requested, “Why can’t YOU just be normal?”

I decided to look up the definition of the word normal and it’s not a pretty. It is, just average, typical, middle of the road, run of the mill, wonted.

I say that equates to BORING!

Further into my search I came across this definition of a NORMAL COUPLE:

2 a normal couple: ordinary, average, typical, run-of-the-mill, middle-of-the-road, common, conventional, mainstream, unremarkable, unexceptional, garden-variety, a dime a dozen.

This definition of a normal does not interest me in the least. WHY would aspire to be in one of these categories and live in that place for my one precious life?

It all comes down to what’s in a word. What meaning you give it. What kind of an expectation  you attach to it. What is your perception of the meaning you give it. I’ve made a new rule for me.

I am not interested in labels that define me, or boxes that confine me.

I set my own NORMAL button. My own rules for how I live. My own rules for how I love.

So here is the Sleeping Naked After 40 definition of normal.

“Normal is what feels good to your heart. If it feels right it is normal for you”

I invite you to ask yourself, what is normal for you and WHY do you chose it?

Sit with this question. You may discover amazing things about how amazing you really are, without measuring yourself up against “normal” and by sitting still long enough to hear your answer.

Feel free to comment or share by cutting and pasting this post to your facebook page or twitter : Normal is what feels good to your heart. If it feels right it is normal for you. #MindsetMonday http://wp.me/p4MsYA-1TI

Love, Love, Love,

What is Normal?
